April Pools Day in Scottsdale
Posted on April 13, 2016
April 1st may have been a day filled with internet pranks and tom foolery but April 24th is April Pools Day in Scottsdale. The free event takes place from 1 to 4pm at Eldorado Aquatic and Fitness center, at 2301 N Miller Road, Scottsdale AZ. The event will be a great way to kick off the summer season for families with young children.
In addition to the event being a fun way to beat the summer heat, the Scottsdale Fire Department will be performing a mock rescue scenario to raise awareness about pool safety and drowning prevention. There will be interactive booth games, and raffles for hosted by local businesses.
In addition to April Pools Day there are several other family friendly events taking place across the valley this month.
Legoland Discovery Center
April, 22nd marks the day that the Legoland Discovery Center opens at the Arizona Mills Mall. The lego themed play center is geared towards children ages 3-10 featuring lego-themed rides, and a fire and rescue themed playground and jungle gym. Children will be wowed by the race-car building and testing area. Additionally, you can see Arizona’s biggest landmarks recreated using only lego.
Chalk Art Festival
Starting on April, 30th the Chalk Art Festival pops off with professional artists creating magnificent 8 by 6 foot chalk murals. The event is being held at three separate outdoor shopping centers across the valley, including Westgate Shopping Center, Desert Ridge Marketplace and Tempe Marketplace. Kids can create their own works of art and even take lessons from art instructors on how to really make your chalk art “pop”.
Day of Puppetry
The Great Arizona Puppet Theater and Phoenix Guild of Puppetry host a day of puppets and good times that includes a face-painting station, make-and-take puppets, and a puppet stage for your kids to perform their very own puppet show.
